Just like everyone else we fell into this trap. They've been sending requests for years now, and the only time they do it when I'm out of the office, someone else signed it on my behalf, since we recently moved and they showed our old address. After multiple snailmail from them I got a call from CCReporting calling about confirming our details, sounding like its from them.
Already filed with Fraud Center/RCMP and Competition Bureau -

So I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. Got an email that said to verify our business listing, and since we have a contract with the official yellow pages I didn't think anything of it, until I got an invoice for $1500.00 that's when I knew I've been had. It seems that everyone's course of action on here is to just ignore them and hope they go away. Which I intend to do. I already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and spoke with some A$$ named Peter Dennis @ 866-259-2291. He said that after talking with their legal council they could nock down the price to $500.00, that's great because I'm still not going to pay a company that is so deceptive. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes before they stop sending letters and just forget about you or has anyone been sent to a collection agency from these people?
Julie replied 4/30/15, 2:33 PMEddie,
I have the same problem today.
I called them up and Peter Dennis respond with now invoice to $500 from $1400. He give me the same story as their legal council agree to term our contract but we must pay this up. what happen if you don't pay? someone please help. -

I got a fax from them thinking that it was associated with our yellow book account I filled it out and faxed it back. Then I realized after speaking with the owner of the company I work for that this was a scam. I tried to cancel it the very next day and was denied stating that I signed a contract and that the work had already begun. I asked for proof of service which they could never give. I have received several faxes and letters from the threatening to contact the credit bureaus and sending a w-9 to the IRS. I have alerted them that I am aware of this scam and I refuse to let her ( Sofia Davis ) scare me. There is a place in Hell for people like this. They all have british accents but claim to be in Rochester NY. Bogus Just Bogus

About a year ago I filled out this stupid form thinking it was for Yellow Pages CANADA. When I received the first invoice I called them and they said they would cancel as long as I sent something in writing. So I sent them a cancellation notice to only have them keep sending me invoices and threatening me with collections. I reported them to the BBB of Upstate NY. They didn't really help but pretty much said they could not resolve and for me to report them else where. I kept ignoring all their disgusting requests. Now a year later I get another threatening letter about putting me into collections and more bullsh*t.
I AM NOT PAYING THEM. THEY ARE DECEPTIVE AND THEY ARE DISGUSTING SCAM ARTISTS. If you ever noticed on the envelope they send your invoice too, check out the stamp..It's from somewhere in GERMANY!
Absolutely disgusted -

These people suck and are ridiculous. Everything everyone else has said on here is true. Do not pay the bills. The address is a shoddy little building that looks abandoned. They don't have the money to send lawyers after you even if they wanted to.

Same. Got the scam yellow holding fax saying goes "this is not a bill" in massive bold print. Confirmed the information and now have been contacted in writing 7 yes seven times. Threatening lawsuits if I don't pay them. They want the money sent to 250 mill street in Rochester new york state. I am 1 of the 168 complaints filed with the better business Bureau against them. They just send the BBB the same response letter full of lies for every complaint. I complained to the federal Trade commission ( they take complaints and info but don't act. For each consumer, I am in canada. I emailed the scanners and CCd the Canadian anti fraud center - the criminals never answered my cancel request. I googled their landlord property management company who owns 250 mill street about the criminals they did not respond. I also looked into corporations canada and no business is registered in that name in this country. I also went onto the real yellow pages website and emailed their PR lady fiona with scans of all the invoices threatening me they continue to send. But they never stop.
DaveH replied 12/29/13, 11:39 AMThese idiots tried to bill us for yellow pages too... I run a business in Alberta, Canada. I called the RCMP and filled out a statement. The company continues to send bills with additional $50.00 reminder fees each time... they are a joke... I called them once, and they actually answered(some dick head guy)(usually they don't answer) I said if they keep sending me bogus bills I will hop on a plane and rip his %$#@ing throat out... just lip them off, tell them to shove it etc and sooner or later they will go away...... These guys are criminals and don't deserve any respect, they lose their rights in society as far as I am concerned.Kay replied 1/6/14, 2:31 PMThis company is doing the same thing to us. There is a warning about them in the BBB here in Louisiana. Unfortunately we thought it was just verifying our business address . I have faxed them letters cancelling and called 1-866-259-2291 and get very rude people on the phone who are not helpful at all. They are representing themselves as the Yellow Pages which is a legitimate company here in Louisiana but it is actually Yellow Holdings. Any suggestions on how to stop these people from harassing us please post on here. -

Fax machine calling, incoming spam fax is a one-page order form for Yellow Holding LTD., 250 Mill St., Rochester NY 14614, some sort of online yellow pages . Form is designed to look like an invoice. No mention of money in the main body. Fine print at bottom states (where normally general legal disclosures are buried) that you are ordering a listing in a 'new' online yellow pages at www.yellow-pages-California.net that is not affiliated with any local phone company and which will not be delivered to telephone subscribers, for $1,099 per year, for two years, and which requires 3 months written notice to cancel otherwise it will continue to be renewed automatically for one year terms, billed to a credit card. Total scam.
Glenn281 replied 10/21/13, 11:32 PMThought it was a free listing and accepted it by mistake. Found out about the charges and tried to cancell but they have refused. I am in Ontario, Canada and have absoutely no use for the service. They are truly scam artists. They keep adding costs for sending me reminders.

FTC Stops Fake 'Yellow Pages' Scam; Foreign Operation Targeted Small Businesses and Nonprofits in United States and Other Countries

At the Federal Trade Commission’s request, a federal judge has temporarily halted a European-based operation that has allegedly bilked small businesses and nonprofit organizations, including churches, out of millions of dollars by deceiving them into ordering and then paying for unwanted listings in online business directories. In addition to stopping the allegedly deceptive practices, the court also froze the defendants’ assets. The FTC seeks to permanently stop the illegal practices and to require that the defendants provide refunds to their victims.
In conjunction with the FTC’s case, the Canadian Competition Bureau also filed a lawsuit against this operation, alleging that the defendants’ deceptive scheme similarly targets small businesses and other organizations in Canada.
“The FTC is committed to working with its law enforcement colleagues in Canada and around the world to stamp out international schemes that target U.S. consumers,” said David C. Vladeck, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. “We applaud our friends in Canada for helping to coordinate this international effort.”
“The Bureau is pleased that the FTC has joined us in targeting the individuals and companies involved in this cross-border scam,” said Melanie Aitken, Commissioner of Competition. “International collaboration is key to cracking down on multi-jurisdictional scams.”
According to court papers filed by the FTC, the defendants operate their scheme from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, using corporations based in England and the Netherlands. Since 2009, they have sent unsolicited faxes to churches, doctors’ and dentists’ offices, and local retailers in the United States, Canada, Australia, and possibly other countries. Each fax sent to a U.S. business or nonprofit includes a name such as YellowPage-Illinois.com, depending upon the location of the organization, and a “walking fingers” logo similar to the one commonly associated with local yellow pages.
The FTC alleges that these faxed forms falsely suggest that organizations have a pre-existing relationship with the defendants. The forms contain information about the business or nonprofit, and a Yellow Page ID number, and instruct the recipient to confirm and update the information and sign and fax the form back by a certain deadline. Buried in fine print at the bottom of the form is the only indication that the fax is a solicitation for new business and that organizations that return the form are ordering an $89 per month, two-year registration in the defendants’ online directory, payable a full year in advance. Many consumers do not see or read the fine print and instead sign and return the form, believing that they are merely updating their local yellow pages listing. Often the person who signs and returns the form is not authorized to purchase services on the business’s or nonprofit’s behalf.
According to the FTC, organizations that return the form then receive a faxed invoice seeking payment of $1,068 for 12 months of directory listings. They are directed to make payment to Yellow Page B.V. at a New York City address. The defendants often tell businesses or nonprofits that try to cancel that the cancellation period has expired, and that they intend to enforce the contract. Organizations that refuse to pay receive faxes seeking late fees and threatening to refer the alleged debts to a collection agency and harm their company’s credit rating. In some instances, organizations pay the defendants simply to end the harassment.
The complaint alleges that Jan Marks; Yellow Page Marketing B.V., also doing business as Yellow Page B.V. and Yellow Page (Netherlands) B.V.; Yellow Publishing Ltd.; and Yellow Data Services Ltd., falsely represented that businesses and nonprofits had a preexisting business relationship with them, and falsely represented that they were affiliated with a local yellow pages directory, in violation of the FTC Act.
In addition to this coordinated effort by the FTC and Canadian Competition Bureau, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission previously brought an action against the defendants’ operations in Australia, and provided assistance to the current enforcement effort. The FTC appreciates the assistance of the Competition Bureau Canada, which took the lead in coordinating this joint effort. The FTC is also grateful for the help provided by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
The Commission vote authorizing the staff to file the complaint was 4-1, with Commission J. Thomas Rosch voting no. The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division.
NOTE: The Commission files a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. The complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendant has actually violated the law. The case will be decided by the court.
The Federal Trade Commission works for consumers to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices and to provide information to help spot, stop, and avoid them.
