Kirsten reported Fake tech support with the number +18188505438 as Telemarketer
A person called me from this number saying that they were a representative from Geek Squad and that they were hosting my Dell service. They then proceeded to tell me that my subscription was ending and Told me that if I wanted to cancel they could help walk me through the cancellation over the phone. I had a feeling it was a scam, so I went with it. The representative asked me to go into my browser so I pretended to do so. The representative than ask me to go into my search bar and type in a www. URL that contained the word "control" within it. He then asked me to report to him what was on the screen once I entered the URL. I then declined to go on with the call stating that this is a scam call in the hung up. I believe the representative was going to use the URL to gain control over my computer. I have had these calls from representatives acting as if they were Dell in trying to get me to go into my computer and give them control over my computer in the past.
