Robocall claiming there was a legal notice against my name and gave a separate number to call back. Instead, I pressed two thinking I could get removed from the calling list. Someone answered claiming to be from Social Security telling me my SSN was going to be suspended. He then asked me to google this phone number which this Beware page was at the top of the searches. Other searches listed claimed to be a SSA office in New York. I stated I was not comfortable continuing the call and hung up.

Very similar situation to what the previous comment mentioned - automated call that there was a legal notice on my name, then I got connected to a representative when I answered and pressed 1. They were trying to convince me that my identity was stolen and was being used in El Paso for drug trafficing and money laundering and was tied to a few different accounts. Very professional-sounding, providing a name and badge number and case number and walking me through the steps to "resolve the issue" where they wanted to verify my current assets, connect me with the US Marshals, set up an ADR to resolve the case, etc... Not going to lie, I was drinking the coolaid for a while. However, when they asked me to install a remote desktop app on my phone so that they could connect and verify the accounts I had access to, the alarms started going off in my head. They got angry/insistent when I said that I would much rather discuss everything in person and if they would connect me to a local marshal or officer that I could progress everything with. They eventually hung up on me when they realized they weren't making any more progress. Watch out for this one, it is a pretty well-thought-out scam!
