A caller asked for me by name, claiming the call was being recorded and that he was from the City of Chicago Department of Finance. He wanted to confirm my address, but I refused to share information with an unknown caller. When I asked if I owed any money, he became aggressive. I hung up and checked the Department of Finance website, finding nothing outstanding. The call seemed plausible at first, but I knew Chicago city offices use 744 numbers, which raised suspicions.
