Check out what happened to me. I had 2 incidents with this scammy business.
FIRST Story: They call and hang up as soon as I answer.
I called the phone number back and it gave a bogus intro saying "blah blah, be recorded and monitored for quality service blah blah"
I asked that they remove our business number off their call roster. The lady said "sure, can you please tell me what that phone number is?" That was an odd question to ask because I know she has it right in front of her on her caller ID.. so I gave it then she sounds like she is typing something then says "hmm..I'm so sorry but I don't see your number. Are you sure there isn't a different number you can give me?" so she denies seeing our phone number on this "call roster" then she ended the conversation with a "i'm so sorry about that. have a great day"... I don't understand why she can't take our phone number off..she supposedly searched it and supposedly can't find it..I don't think anything about it.
Then it happens..Again
SECOND Story: The number calls and hangs up as soon as i answer. I call back and this time a guy gives the same bogus intro "...recorded and monitored for..." I say "can you please take us off your call roster?" He says "sure, what's your phone number starting with the area code?" I gave it. Then I promise you he says the exact same thing as that woman.
"hmm..I'm sorry but i don't see your phone number on here. Are you sure there isn't a different phone number that we called? maybe there is another phone number associated with this one?"
I said " are you serious? You said the exact same thing the last person i spoke with said?! " Then I said "what do you mean 'is there another phone number associated with this account?" what account?" then he said "i'm sorry' and hung up.
So yea, long story short..yes. It's a scam. Don't bother answering and don't bother calling.
Just report.
Also, By the way, I went to submit my review on their site and they denied because the site said "I need a valid email address before submitting my review..more of a scam to get information.
So watch out.
AND the reason why this 2138 number is hard to find or locate because it is linked/hidden underneath the number 844-685-8700.
That 8700 is the "real business" line so when you call or answer the 2138, it transfers you over to that 8700. I found a site that stated this.Me too annoyed replied 9/11/19, 4:16 PMI looked up another # and got this

Robocall. Keeps calling for months and we have no debt. Either they hang up immediately or leave a message with a recording to call them back or go to their website. They don't even mention who the call is for. DO NOT ANSWER.

I get a robot call from this number EVERY day at 8:03 a.m.--every day. I never answer but it's annoying since I work the late shift and am sleeping at that time. I usually take the phone off the hook if I wake up before that so it doesn't wake me up. Totally annoying and I can't block the number.

Don't answer, don't engage, they can kick rocks. Once a collection agency gets involved the original company has written it off and taken a tax credit. Never pay, never engage, never respond. They don't get to double dip
